Just recently I started to rewrite an eBook that I first published a few years ago. Here’s why..
I kept coming across similar situations, one after another during my private Spiritual Guidance and Life Coaching sessions with people.
Because of this commonality, my attention was drawn back to this one particular eBook which teaches the very thing so many people have been coming face to face with (struggling with to be quite frank) in their own lives.
So I re-read what I’d published years ago, and well, I thought that it could be better.
I thought I could make the topic and it’s solutions clearer and consequently, more helpful for folks.
There are so many challenges, roadblocks, obstacles, whatever you want to call them that can get in our way of really and truly experiencing the inner peace that we all deserve.
So, let me ask you…
Are you happy with the present level of inner peace that you’re experiencing?
Let’s face it, I obviously don’t know all the details of your life, but if you’re even a little bit similar to many of the people who I interact with, then your answer is probably the same as their’s… And their answer is NO!
Well I won’t take up your time by publishing the entire eBook here in today’s message (and it’s not quite finished yet), but I will give you a quick overview.
Even though this is only an overview, I truly feel that if you’re willing and able to take just the parts I’m going to share with you today and start doing them in your life… you WILL most definitely notice an increased amount of inner peace that you’ll enjoy.
If you’ve been a regular reader of my messages, then you’ve probably noticed that there’s not a lot of fluff in them and I tend to look for root causes of issues we all come face to face with at one time or another.
Well this message, I can safely say, applies to everyone of us.
In the interest of explanation I am going to talk in terms of “buckets.”
Nearly every single thing in our lives can be placed into one of three buckets (aren’t you glad I didn’t say there’s 27 of them – only 3!).
It’s really quite simple at this point…
Bucket Number 1
The things in life that we have control over
Bucket Number 2
The things in life that we have influence over
Bucket Number 3
The things in life that we have neither control nor influence over
If you’re really ambitious, you could look at your entire day and place every single thing you think and do into one of the three buckets.
Or…
You could simply gain an understanding of the three, maybe even print them out so that you can see them (and not forget), then just reflect on them from time to time throughout your day. Or…
Maybe you only start with the things that you’ve labeled as frustrations, challenges or obstacles in your life.
It doesn’t really matter which way you choose…
So here’s the deal… here’s how this works.
We’ll start in reverse order.
Bucket Number 3. Remember, these are all the things in life that you have no control over and no influence of.
Can you think of some examples?
These could be many of the things we read about on social media or see on TV or in the News.
Unless we are willing to actually get involved with something (that would move it into Bucket number 2), then we have no control or influence on the topic.
No matter how much time we spend talking about, gripping/complaining, blaming… at the end of the day, nothing changes because we didn’t have control over whatever it was or, we didn’t put ourselves in a position to have real influence on the topic. Consequently, those items remain in Bucket number 3.
Let’s move to Bucket Number 2. These are things that we have influence over.
You could say that, for most of us, these are things closer to home.
We have influence (positive or otherwise) over many, many things in our lives.
How we use our influence makes all the difference.
In Bucket number 2, we find many issues relating to our relationships, our knowledge on a subject, family matters with children or parents, and our financial situation.
Lastly in Bucket Number 1, we find things we have control over.
Sometimes we think and feel we have control over more things in life than we really do.
Maybe that gives us a false sense of confidence or security, I don’t know.
I only know that when I became clear on what REALLY falls into Bucket Number 1 and then made a concerted effort to focus my attention here, doors opened for me.
Stress, anxiety and worry began to melt away.
And I believe it can do the same for you!
Arguably, when you really stop and think about it, we really only have control over one thing in life.
Just one.
Everything else falls into “influence” (which is Bucket number 2) or neither control nor influence (which is Bucket number 3).
So, there is only one thing in Bucket number 1.
The one thing in life that you and I have control over in our own lives is: What and How We Think.
That’s it…
What and how we think effects everything else in our lives…
Everything.
Including our perceptions of life and life’s events, the choices we make, etc. Wow!
With that background, I’ll share a general observation with you.
This may or may not apply to you, that’s up to you to decide. I’m painting with a broad brush here.
It’s my observation that many folks spend the greatest amount of their time and attention on items in Bucket number 3.
A lesser amount of their time and attention on items in Bucket number 2…
… and the least amount of their time and attention on the item in Bucket number 1.
Like I said, my general observation may not be true with you personally.
Some self-awareness and reflection will point you to how your time and attention breaks down within the three buckets.
Here’s quick summary…
If you would like more inner peace in your life and less stress, anxiety and worry (which all rob us of inner peace), then try your best (you don’t have to be perfect!) to place your time and attention in same order I’ve listed these buckets.
Place most of your time and attention on Bucket number 1.
Place the second amount of your time and attention on Bucket number 2.
And spend as little time and attention as possible on things in Bucket number 3.
If you choose to begin doing this, I can virtually assure you that an increased amount of inner peace will enter into your life… and in a very short amount of time.
As always, I wish you the highest and best on your spiritual journey. Let me know if you need any help or guidance along the way.
May Peace be with you and in you, my friends!
